Cpying Tracks Question

Hi Everyone: I have been doing some 2 track recordings with my Tascam DA-30, DAT recorder. I was messing around, and decided to copy the 2 tracks and add them to the master. I applied the mix that the original 2 tracks had, to the 2 copied ones. The sound seemed much richer with the 2 original and 2 copied tracks vs. the original 2. Did I hit on something, or is this all in my head, and not my ears. Thanks Walter

I am using Samplitue Master 6.5 recording software. It only allows 4 tracks. Would upgrading, and duplicating the tracks to say 8 or 16 tracks, enhance it further?

You need to remember that any artifacts such as noise or distortion will also be multiplied by the number of added tracks so don't over do it. The more copies that you add the lower the volume will need to be on each track to avoid clipping which has more of a negative affect on the sound.
