Tom mics...

I know there are a lot of really good tom mics out there. But I am on a budget for this home studio project and I was wondering what everyone thought of mic'ing the toms with sm57s? Also...does anyone have any experience using Audix F10s or Sennheiser e609's on the toms? Any inexpensive suggestions for decent tom mics? Thanks.

SM57's will work pretty good. Might want to borrow / rent a set of them for a day to make sure you'll like them tho to be on the safe side.
