Unhappy wav files to audio cd -help!

hi. years ago, i had recorded a lot of my music at home using one of those Tascam cassette 4-tracks .recently, i have transferred some of these recordings from a cassette tape onto my computer using the "goldwave" program. the songs are now all WAV files and the sound quality is GREAT but when i burned them to make an audio cd, the music sounds "muffled" and totally different (lol, sounds like sh*t ) and i'm hearing clicking and popping noises too.when the WAVs are played from a data disc or from my desktop, etc. then everything sounds fine and i dont hear all of this other garbage but why do they sound so much different when i burn them to make an audio cd??? .thanks in advance.

What program and CD burner are you using?

Also, where are you listening to the audio CDs? In your computer? If so, try your CDs in another player.

Do professional audio CDs sound good in your computer? If not, check the cable from your CD drive to your soundcard--it's probably an analog (four pin) cable, and if there's a short in that cable, it could be causing pops. If your drive and soundcard support a digital cable (two pin), try that instead.

ok , i figured out why this is sounding different to me now but i dont understand whats wrong ..when i originally recorded some of these songs and mixed the 4 tracks together to a "master" tape ,it was mixed to where usually one rhythm guitar would be heard only through the left speaker and the other rhythm/lead would play through the right (the bass and drum tracks would always be heard through BOTH) . i still hear this just fine after converting them to WAV files on my computer (the instruments are coming through where they should be). however, when i burned the songs to make an audio cd and i play it back, the two guitars somehow sound "spliced together" like the drums and bass are , instead of each guitar being played through a separate speaker so the balance isn't right.know what i mean? cd burner software i am using is "Record Now" btw....and i am kind of new to using a computer and i dont have much expierance with cd burning other than just to back up data files so sorry if its stupid questions.lol.

also, yes it sounds like this when i play it on a regular audio cd player too;sounds as if the tracks have been completely re-mixed after i burned it to audio cd. i just dont know why its not sounding the same.

i've had problems like this before

it turned out to be a compatibility issue with my cd burner and the software i was using to burn cd's.

or it could be the cd's themselves...i once bought a batch of dud cd's...you get what you pay for...

that, and make sure that your files are at the correct bit and sample rates, and make sure you're not doing a bunch of other stuff on your computer while you're burning....oh, and using a slower burning speed can also help sometimes too...
