Here's the deal. Sometime in the next 30 to 60 days, the Comp CD is going into production.

The upfront costs are being met by artists represented on the CD itself, and we could use some help.

Recall that the Comp CD is actually 2 CD's.
We are only making a total of 50 sets, which will say "Limited Edition First Burn" on the cover. I'd like to set the price at a MAXIMUM of $22 (20 for the CD's plus 2 bucks shipping).

So, those of you willing to tuck away $22 within the next 30 to 60 days, reply to this post. Note that the $22 (money orders only) is a MAXIMUM price. If you state here that you're willing, DO NOT BACK OUT, or we'll hang ya.

Hell Yeah! BTW, how is the money thing going to go? Net Clearinghouse? Check? I bet Dragon's got an easy way to do this...

For that matter, I've wondered if the site could use some money. Not like $500 from one person, but $10 from 50 of us...

Money orders only. Sorry. This is not going through Dragon.

Dragon did say a while back that he might be able to help out with the sales and such, but this first run is different.

You'll be mailing your money order directly to me, Ed, or Emeric depending on the prices we come up with. This money will be used *directly* to pay for the actual creation of the first run.

Perhaps in the future we will accept paypal or credit cards or something....but let's not screw around with that crap until we know we're able to create a product that everyone is happy with.

Question

Why is the money order thing easier than my personal check? As long as my check is good (and it will be) the process of cashing it is pretty much the same.

Money orders cash instantly. Personal checks take up to 7-10 business days to clear, and NSF fees are outrageous and straightening out a bounced check is a pain in the ass for all parties concerned.

It takes 1 minute and fifty cents to get a money order which is well worth the zero risk benefits.

If you had to witness the carnage that had to take place in order to get twenty guys to send one song each to one guy....my concerns would make a lot more sense

I've got to agree with Slack on this one. The money order is just much safer in terms of putting Slack or whoever at risk. Since he's pretty much organized the whole thing from the get go, I'm comfortable with whatever he prefers.

I'll take one... $2 shipping to Australia is pretty sweet!! Did you think of international shipping rates??

I don't want to be awkward but I know I can get my hands on US$22 cash. Other wise I've got to get an international money order which is gonna cost me another US$15 or so...

Welp, I guess I overlooked the international bit. I have no clue what it would cost to ship internationally. Nor do I know the easiest, most cost effective way to take international payments.

I'm open to suggestions. Chances are you will have to pay more shipping, just like you would with any product from overseas. Anyone?

I think perhaps the best thing to do for the Australian contingent is perhaps see if Omnipotent, Gaffa or anyone else in Australia wants a copy. Then I don't mind organising a US money order (cos then it gets split up between us) and it also saves on postage. Then Omni, Gaffa etc can send the money to me to cover their part of the US money order... if they are interested of course.

No, it's best to post here to request the comp...that way everyone knows who got in where and who promised what, etc.

Cool to see you guys going in on shipping and the like. Tomorrow at work I'll talk to our shipping department and get a feel for how this might work best. Keep coming with the great ideas!

Ok you crazy Australians, here's the scoop.

Shipping UPS, even if I used my company discount, would be like $40 for their cheapest overseas services.

Shipping USPS, however, is right around $23.

Those rates are based on a 2 lb package.

How do you guys want to do it?

Talk to me Coop,

Is it gonna be cheaper to get it sent through Sydney or Melbourne (being substanitially closer to the US), and then using AusPost to pass it on to you in Perth? Or won't it make much difference (probably not a lot of difference, but at some point a package is going to have to cross the Nullabor.

Don't know how to go about this one...

Oh yeah - Slack - how much is two pounds in kilos? Is it 2.2 pounds to the kilo? Are two CD's really gonna weigh close to a kilo?

Something's pretty screwed up with that price Slack - my guess is that to send a similar thing to the US from Australia would cost no more than about US$5

Gaffa, I'll email you over the weekend - saves clogging up this thread.
