Help me out Please!

I play acoustic guitar and have for a few years. I was searching through musicians friend and came across a Tascam MF-P01 Start-Up Package. It is only $140. I really wanted to record my stuff, and have for a long time, and don't have money. I could make the 140, but I was wondering if this is a stupid buy. The package contains 1 BASF Reference Master C-60 tape, a pair of Tascam THP440 headphones, and a TM77 Tascam mic and 15' XLR to 1/4"cable. And an MF-P01. Please help me out

It depends on what you intend to record, on what media you eventually want to put the end result, and how serious you are about quality. That 4-tracker will only let you record one track at a time. The mic is pretty low grade and even the cable would be useless with better equipment.

Then again, you gotta start somewhere. Maybe you don't need or want to get caught up in gear lust. You can still learn a lot with an entry package like that and you would certainly gain an appreciation for better equipment later on.

Hmmm, do you think I would be better getting a fostex or that alone? I would also buy a mic+stand+cable for 60 bucks, a shure PG58. I have lots of tapes I could use, I don't have any headphones, all I have is earbuds. I would want to record one track at a time, because I would just record a guitar part, then a vocals, followed maybe by a piano. The thing I am wondering is, can I listen to the tracks while recording? Like can I have the guitar track playing and record vocals, without having to write down Que times? Also is it easy to record the tracks to master?
