UPLOADING YOUR MUSIC! - READ

Ok, we all need to upload our songs in 16bit 44.1khz wave format. Where? I dunno, where-ever the hell you can.

Suggestions:
www.freediskspace.com - 300MB IF YOU TAKE THEIR SURVEY. Make sure you do it when you sign up & you'll get your 300MB...otherwise you only get 25MB. Remember, it's ok to lie a little if you're uncomfortable
www.driveway.com - sign up & get 25MB free. Take 3 short surveys and increase your quota to 55MB.
www.freedrive.com - 50MB
www.ezbriefcase.com - claims 500MB but only gives you 50MB & I can't find how to get more.
www.juston.com - 50MB

The 300MB site should work just fine for everyone. However, if your song is under 5 minutes you can probably get away with using one of the 50MB sites.

Also, jitteringjim offered to setup an ftp server a while back. If he's still interested you can upload directly to his machine.

"But Slackmaster, I'm on a modem connection. I can't upload an entire wave!" Well, join the club buckaroo. Try being on a modem connection in MONTANA sometime. Start your upload before you go night-night and when you wake up...it'll all be over. You can do it. I have faith in you dear friend.

"But Slackmaster, I don't have access to the internet!" This one perplexes me. But we'll find a way to get you Ed's address so you can mail him a CD. "I don't have a CD burner!" Then you shouldn't have signed up for the project.

"I keep trying to upload the file...but it drops out after like 5MB!" 1) If you're on AOL or Compuserv or similar, you might have to babysit the upload. Drink lots of beer. Or, sign up for a free service like www.worldspy.com and stop using a service built for morons. You're not a moron, are you? 2) Try a different upload site. 3) Keep trying. 4) You'll have to mail the sucker.

"My dog has a nasty itch. What do I do?" Scratch it.

"AAHHHH. What about my HTML-based information? My cool pictures and all that crap I want to include on the CD!!!!!" Chill dude. Upload it somewhere if you wish. We're not collecting at this time though.

"WHAT HTML BASED INFORMATION!!!!?????" You need to read this group more often. You need some way of either sending raw text (nobody is going to format it for you though!) or (an) HTML document(s). We'll talk about this more later.

"Why are you so mean to me? *sniff sniff*" Because I'm 1000 miles away and therefore have a false sense of power and security. I'm compensating for my weak childhood.

"Hey, can I upload an MP3?" Yeah, I suppose. But it won't sound as good and you can't complain about the quality when we convert it to wave for the CD. I'd recommend
at LEAST 250kbps encoding.

Just a little note to let you know that I read your post and am complying.

I'll probably upload the song to my Juston drive and I'll post the url when I'm done.

I'm afraid I only have a 56k modem, so I can't be a downloader, but I'm willing to help make CD copies if we can figure out a snail-mail system. If not, ok, but feel free to use me in a pinch.

Well, this is going to be a little trickier than I thought, damn it. I'm having a tough time uploading my tune...AOL, though not quite the problem I thought I'd have, but a problem none the less.

What's the deadline?
