My mixer only has a switch to turn on.....

My mixer only has a switch to turn on the Phantom power for all the mic inputs. If I plug in a Dynamic mic into a input with the phantom power on will this screw it up? I am sure this has been answered before but I want to make sure before I screw up my sm57's.s

Thanks ya'll!

No, it will not. Most definitely not. No no no no no no no no no no no no.

It will not screw it up.

I have personally answered this question at least five times on this board.

No big deal though.

It depends on the mixer and if your mic cable ever shorts out and etc... it's best to turn the phantom power OFF before plugging or unplugging any mics, some people say they do it all the time without problems and other aren't so lucky. Many, if not most mixer manuals say to turn OFF the p-pwr before plugging or unplugging any mics. Oh, and cominginsecond is correct about... phantom will not damage dynamic mics. But plugging or unplugging mics into a mixer while the phantom power is ON... is not recommened.

davide is on a distinguished road
Just to clarify- phantom will not harm dynamic mikes provided that they have a transformer in them (I.E any decent mike) however if it is really really cheap then it will possibly fry the capsule.
