Not sure which song to submit?

If you're undecided which song to submit to the project, get some feedback! Post links to your candidates and I'm sure people will offer opinions.

Personally I have two songs that I could submit but I'm not certain because they both have their weaknesses. "The Window" is kinda cool but the guitar is really weak. "Hindsight" is cool too but the vocals are awful and there's a lot of noise. If anyone would like to offer suggestions please do. http://www.mp3.com/slacker

The Window is also a cool song, but im partial to vocal oriented songs

Hindsight! It's Gotta be on the CD. And if we all agonized about all the weaknesses on our recordings there wouldn't be ANY tracks on this CD....

Hindsight! Slack, I'd forgotten I'd listened to and enjoyed that one previously. Good, solid song...really enjoy that guitar sound as the chorus kicks in...some kinda David Bowie thing going on there. Just one more example of why this CD Comp is gonna be awesome.

And S8-N: I thought about finishing that Adity tune (montana grunge) but it needs serious work. I decided to totally screw it and start over. The distorted guitar was pretty weak...it only sounded ok cause there were 3 overdubs. Thanks for not sucking my dick.

Yo, S2K...I knew I had heard "Hindsight" somewhere...we talked about it months ago before you had added the vocals. I said I loved the guitar work, and you said you were just tossing it off, and I got all jealous...well it still sounds killer, so there!

Am I all nutty or will the exchange of ideas for the compilation defuse any desire to actually buy the CD? Hey- I agonized long and hard (no comments from the peanut gallery on my selection technique) on what to choose for the compilation. You haven't heard this stuff and I think that's best until the CD is done. I'm open to S8-N's advocate.

HMMMMMMM. I have a song that I need to lay down music and vocals to that has long been considered my greatest... I have played it in 3 of my 4 bands... That is an achievement in itself... Convincing three different groups of people to do a certain song and then teaching them the parts... I wrote it back in '91 and have recorded it in a pro studio, with a different singer... I've been itching to re-record it with MY vocals the way it should be done...
Maybe, if I can get off of my ass, I'll get in done in time...

Doc, I had already posted both of those tunes to the clinic...and they're the best I have done so far. I honestly have no real preference between the two...it's like choosing your favorite child...so I figured I'd offer em up and get some opinions. If you want to keep your submission material top secret that's cool...it'll definately make things more interesting!

S8-N: Is the January 31st deadline for song title and length too early? I sent out notice 3 days ago and have only gotten 3 responses from the group...which makes me think we might be rushing. If we need more time then we need more time. Let me know.

What we *could* all do is agree to do something totally new for the compilation. That is, something that hasn't been heard before by anyone. But that'd push the project back. Thoughts?

If we're gonna do something new, then the 31st is a bit early for me... I would be able to make it but (1)I'm in the process of switching over to Vegas Pro and (2) I'm in the middle of working on a song that I dont want to submit to the comp...

I don't think asking people to create new stuff for the first compCD will be a good idea. The 24 that have stepped up and made their offer of a contribution already had something in mind. So the associated delay would serve no useful purpose. For new stuff, there will always be the NEXT comp CD.....
And don't mind me about keeping this stuff secret until the CD is released. That's certainly not a requirement for me to want a copy of this baby. I just thought it would add a little anticipation to the mix.
