new sr-16 died!

I have an sr-16 drum machine that is relatively new - got it for xmas, and I've barely used the thing. When trying to copy a pattern from a "b" part to an "a" then thing just sorta froze. actually first it wouldn't perform the copy. it said "copy complete!" but it didn't copy. then a few tries later. it just stopped responding to anything. I turned it off and then on, and all the led's on the screen sorta darkened, but nothing fully, and now nothing works. Any ideas? Is there maybe the chance that it is the power supply that is bad?

well, it turns out if you read the manual, they have a trouble shooting guide. go figure. There is a way to reboot the thing, or clear out the memory. So the thing works now, but all the programs I once created (all 2 of them) are gone. So the lesson here is - take notes! what drum is assigned to each pad, the general patterns, etc. Now I have ot start all over. But my toy works, which I guess is good.

I think you can back up your patterns and songs by connecting the SR-16 to a cassette deck. It's way old-fashioned, like the cassette drives they had for computers back before floppy drives, but it works. It has a "verify" function so you can check to make sure your back-up is good.
And didn't you know that the audio engineer's motto is "When all else fails, read the manual!"??

hmm. I'll definately check that option out. Fortunately, the one beat I was done with, I think for good, and the other took only about a half hour to create, and probably only half that to recreate.
