DJARCHI is on a distinguished road
Mic Preamp suggestions for a noob.

Ok so heres the deal: I have a rode NT1 mic and am looking at getting an Audiophile 24/96 soundcard (herd great things about it). Anyways i have about $300 dollars left to blow on a preamp and i want one the gives me the MOST BANG FOR THE BUCK!! I am just recording rap vocals so i dont need more than one or two inputs and my main concern is quality. Steer a noo-b in the right direction. I want a great sound on this budget. Thanx in advance.

You're not going to get a "great" preamp for that price. You can get a "good enough" sound with an M-Audio DMP3. You might even be able to get two of these for under $300.

As I suggested when you posted the same thread in the "Newbies" forum, I'd suggest a used Symetrix SX202... About $150... very clean 2 channel pre...
