Just got new musicians friend catalog in,noticed they have Nady SCM900 Condenser mic for under a hundred bucks! Are they any good?

It's the exact same mic as the MXL 2001 mic, which I have. It's a nice mic for the price. Since the Nady is about $50 or $60 cheaper, it sounds like a super deal...
I say go for it. The MXL is good for drum overheads and other things, so the NADY would be great for getting a pair. |

Seriously? The same as the MXL2001? How's that? I might just grab me a couple of those... Oh shoot, I also need phantom power. More money! More money!

YESSSS,
this is the first good coment I read about the Nady mic, and is the only I need to buy it. (low low budget) I need overheads and vocal mics. |

Yes it's the same mic as the MXL2001, JM47, ADK-51, and a few other I can't remember right now. But I can "recall' if you're really interested.
If you are absolutely gonna buy one, I strongly recommend you listen to the one exact one you're gonna buy. There are REALLY bad inconsistency problems with all those mics; mainly having to do with the capsule. For example: Two of the same make and model, even with consecutive serial numbers, can sound drasticly different. There are plenty of discussions about all this in the archives. |
