Ntrack 4.0

The version history doesn't say anything about performance improvements.

One big question... 64bit?

Looks like 4.0 is still only in beta version, so I'm sure they have lots more to do still. Also, I don't think anyone has yet made up to 64bit recording have they? I thought the highest any DAW goes up to is 32bit float...and even then, you can't use it unless your OS can handle it...which I think OSX is the only one closest to doing that now. Am I wrong?

There are many wave editors and such that use 64 bit float DSP, but I think the question actually concerns 64 bit CPU's and operating systems. That remains to be seen as to whether n-Track will offer a 64 bit version. I would be inclined to believe that it will still be in a win32 format until 64 bit systems are more mainstream. It also remains to be seen as to whether or not n-Track will ever be ported over to a Mac format.

In future generations of ntrack, I'd like to see more focus on stability and performance, and less on new features. It seems silly for Flavio to invest allot of time on ntrack's built-in EQs and such when there are so many quality plugins out there. Meanwhile, the program has some serious performance issues which probably require retooling the underlying engine to fix. Maybe Flavio's done this on 4.0 though - I haven't had time to investigate yet.
