Just cause he likes Bellari doesn't mean he isn't a pro. While it may not be likely, maybe he REALLY likes that sound....

Bellari? I think he was pulling your chain.

Here's a real tube compressor that you can be proud to say "f*ck all" about: http://www.mercenary.com/dr19meedduch.html

Actually, the Bellari Tube comps are not all that bad. If used correctly, I can see the potential for setting one up and saying "F_ all!"

The ART Pro MPA's aren't all bad, either.

Guys, tools is tools. Maybe they're not all perfect for every situation . . . and maybe they aren't going to make your LA2A dispensible any time soon. But just because something says "Bellari" or "ART" doesn't mean it should be automatically dismissed.

Unless it's an Alesis 3630. Then it's just completely useless.

Is he pro? Well - it depends......... look at the rest of his gear list...

If it consists primarily of Bellari, ART, Rolls and Alesis outboard, chances are his experience level is low....

But if he's got a couple of "cheeap color units" like Bellari and Alesis in the midst of a room full of Urei, LA2A, Empirical, Crane Song, etc, etc.... then chances are much better that he knows what he's talking about!

he is a motherfucking expierienced engineer who had lots of bad luck and had to sell most of his gear, a few years ago he started building up his studio again,

he is a pro, and i'm nothing but an amateur, and yes, he does have one ART tube preamp which i think is junk, he does have an alesis reverb which i don't like,

BUT GENTLEMEN !!!! this man makes mixes that KILLyou !!!!!
i got better gear, i got more gear, but he smokes me,

that's what makes you a pro; i can give him a fucking bassdrum mic and he can record some awesome vocals with it, actually, he can even turn things into gold when he touches it with his Kick mikes...

know what i'm saying ?

ok, he's not god, héhé, but i respect no one as much as him, not for his junk ass equipment, but for all the knowledge in his head...
I WANT HIS BRAINS !!!

anywayz, if he thinks that bellari stuff is good, fine, i haven't heard it in my life so i donno...

i loved my Tc electronic compressor untill i started using a Joemeek,
and i'll probably stop loving joemeek when i get something "better" ...

doesn't it go like that ? "to like equipment" is just a temporary thing,
but DISLIKING it....wow....that goes for a lifetime i guess....
