looking for a sampler
Hi, I'm starting to shop for samplers. I really just started looking around so I know practically nothing about what's good, what's not.
I do know : (a) I'm basically looking for the capability to store and sample phrases from line or mic and have them playable at the touch of a button. Preferably be able to play multiple samples at once. (b) I'm not interested in a lot of onboard effects. Some minimal effects and editing capability - such as being able to cut up and replay only parts of stored phrases, and slow down/speed up samples - would be good. (c) I'm willing or inclined to buy used - for the sake of price and because I don't need a lot of extra toys. And I don't need or want any kind of databank of present drums or other sounds. So does anyone have good knowledge of what's out there? I know I've looked at some pictures on Ebay and there is a lot of variety just in the appearance of different units - I can't really tell how the controls are laid out and what they're for in most of the pictures... -e? |
