Dmt 8vl

I have a few Stupid Questions so please bare with me.
I have a DMT 8VL with out a manual.
I have one on order from Fostex.
First question
I have Software V1.1 is it worth Updating to V2.0 (Eproms)
second Question.
I have been Using the SP/DIF to get from the DMT to The PC.
Would it be better (or can I) to use the Jaz Drive to move files from the DMT to the PC.
