perforateme is on a distinguished road
What do I need?

I have been recording my solo, experimental music in my home for a few months consisting of guitar, keyboard, no drums, and i want to get a better sound. I'm not talking anything drastic, because what i'm using now is not that bad for what my goal is. I am using Cool Edit Pro 2 to record a Marshall 100HDFX Half Stack with only a computer mic. Surprisingly, it doesnt sound that bad for what im doing, but i at least want to be able to use a decent microphone (maybe an SM57 or Seinheiser e609?) I was thinking of the 40 dollar Begringer UB502. Its all that I would need i think?? Do you think that would be enough for me? sound card? you can check out some of my stuff at www.pureVolume.com/UmbilicalEmergencies thanks alot.

You need a preamp and a soundcard or some type of combo unit. You generally get what you pay for but if you only want to spend $40 then go for the Behringer. Personally I'm skeptical of any hardware that costs the same as a good cable.
