Power Sockets (In the UK)

I have a stupid amount of things that require a plug in my room, i only have a single wall plug with 2 sockets on it to feed them all. Does each socket on this wall fix get powered seperatly? I ask because i have an 8 way extension plugged into one plug, and then another 4 way plugged into that 8 way- so far nothing has blown up...How far can i keep plugging stuff in? Also what will happen if i plug too much in? (The 8 way is surge protected btw)

Theoretically the max current we should draw from each wall socket is 13A and as long as you usage on each socket is below this all should be OK.

These sockets are usually wired into what is known as a "ring main". This means that the sockets are aranged in one loop usually fused at 30 amps at the main consumer fuse board. It therfore follows that the maxm load of 13A can only be used on 2 of the sockets on one "ring main crcuit".

Unless you are running electric fires or large power amps on your circuits all should be well.
