Red face mr8 + mixing

i finally upgraded from my tascam 4-track (remember tapes?) and got an mr-8. i thought that would be the end of my expenses, but i am having some problems that i've never had to deal with before. i am working in "normal" mode and the vocals sound muffled. i'm using a sm58 mic... when i bounce tracks, the new one sounds much more bright (especially if i use the drum machine). there are no mixing controls, either, so i think maybe i should do some editing on the computer but i'm new at this and broke...and i didn't want to have to use the computer. any suggestions??

Cool MR8 mixing

Unfortunately no eq control and the 128 cf card push you to use pc mixing. Power Tracks software by Pro Audio is $25.00 and is 48 tracks, easy to use and has great quality. Ntracks is another for around $50.00 and gets great praise in here. And Behringer UB802 mixer is $50.00. This is about the cheapest way to go. The wav manager program from Fostex lets you transfer your tracks from pc to MR8. This is free and can be downloaded from the Fostex site. Pc software gives you more control over each track and the whole mix. Check past threads there are many on this topic.
