Rode Ntk / K2

I'm hearing good things about the RODE K2 tube condensor mic. Can anyone give me details on the differences between the K2 and the RODE NTK?

According to the latest Electronic Musician mag, which reviewed the K2 and the NT2000, both quite extensively, the K2 has a slightly fuller sound "larger than life" and sizzle in the high end over the NT2000. Not dramatic sizzle very slight according to the article.

Overall these two were very close in sound according to the reviewer. The K2 does not have the pad or high pass switch but is $100 more because it is a tube model.

Both reviewed mics sounded very similar to the Nuemann M49 or the U67 and even required the same EQ approach as these mics, i.e. Bump at 5kHz cut at 700Hz. This all according to Rob Shrock who has recorded some top names i.e. Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello et al. He decided to keep the mics which is always a major thumbs up.

I want to play with the NT2000 based on his review. $437.50 for the NT2000 and the K2 is $545.00 on ebay.

As to how it stack up to the NTK I can't say. I have the NTK and if I can get hold of one of these new models soon I will pass it along. I do know that they spent $2million dollars on the K2/NT2000 capsule so it should have a richer quality overall than the NTK. Pure speculation however.
