NOOB: Drum mics & mic pre combos....

Hello,
I'm a newbie to recordings drums, so please bare with me.

My 1st question is.... if you had 1 really good dual channel mic pre (my case a 2-610). What areas of the kit would you use those pres on? I figure kick & snare, but overheads perhaps? Keep in mind I'm using mixer pre's for the rest.

Probably a dummy question, but there it is.... thanks in advance
