Need to konw soon, Is this too good of a deal??

Looking for drum overheads I came across this http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/271177/

I would be buying just for the C430 but they cost about $180.00 for a pair? I do not know alot about these mic's But with a previous sale price of around $800.00 for the kit it seems like a good deal. Some people I know have raved about the D409 clip on mic's for stage. They sell for about $150.00 a peice..

Question is... I don't think I can go wrong.. What do you think?

I've never used a D550 or D409 before so I don't know if that package is a good deal or not. If you really want a pair of C430's maybe you can buy them separate for less.

Funny thing is they are the (if I remember correct) about $180 per a pair and around $150 if purchased seperate.

the rest of the mic's would not see much use. I have several SM57's and a Beta-52. So I guess the question is..... Are the C430's any good? Say as opposed to the mxl603's. I realize the c430 is a cardoid patern but that does not bug me, my room is not that great and if I want more room sound I can throw out a single omni to blend in.

Thanks

I've never compared the two so I don't know... by-the-way, the MXL603S is a cardoid pattern also.

I was thinking the 603's were omni?? Woops... Well anyway I ordered the AKG kit today. I made damn sure I could return them if needed. I figure I'll give them a shot. If the clip on mic's work well for the snair I can free up a 57, and I'm going to try out the kick mic in the kick and my bass cab. I'll do a little comparison between the akg and my beta-52. The d409 clip-on mic's are supposed to be good for brass also so we will give them a whirl.

If it turns out to be a bad move I'll get the 603's. Just can't pass up 4 free mic's included with my new overheads though. Have to give it a shot.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

thanks

F.S.
