How do you set your Yorkville dip switch?

Folks,

Just brought home a pair of Yorkville YSM1p monitors. I'm in an unfinished basement, one of the monitor is near a side wall but no wall behind it, and the other monitor is out in the "open". Those dip switches in back of these monitors, are they meant to be used at the same settings? I have one monitor set one way and the other one another way to acommodate having a wall close to it. Also the volume control, do you set this all the way up and let a mixer control it? I currently have this 3/4, and adjust the volume with a mixer.

Thanks in advance.
