mixer or new preamps for mr8
ok. so the preamps for mr8 aren't to hot (yeah, it's a cheap 8 track so you get what you pay for) but i was wondering what route to go: buying a new preamp system for the mr8 or just to go with an external mixer? i really don't want to spend more than 400-500 dollars on either, but i've been told anything within that price range for a mixer will basically have the same crappy pres the mr8 does. i was looking at a yamaha mg12, but i've been told a rackmount pre system would also be a better option.

I bought a Behringer UB802 and use the preamps on it. It works well with the MR8. It only cost approx. $60. If you need more channels they have them, but you will be spending much less than what you are saying. Maybe you should get a Behringer and then spend the rest of the money on a good mic.

I agree with kdgospel. I have a Behringer UB1002.

On this topic, how much more flexibility do you gain by getting a Behringer pre-amp for the MR-8? I need to know because I'm thinking about getting the UB802. Does it have mic/line mixing?
