Cheap but not crap monitors
Go to this thread
http://homerecording.com/bbs/showthr...25#post1105425 Read as much of it as you can, but especialy point 4. Will these be good enough to do the job for me? Dont want anything special and dont want to pay to much. If i decide to do anything serious a new pair of monitors will be one of the first things i get. Cheers |

I'd spend some money on a good set of monitors way before I laid down that kind of cash for an avalon 737 or a rode ntk. If you are planning on investing that much money into a project studio then at least buy the bx8s, which are some decent entry level monitors. Trust me, my first pair of monitors sucked and I've had to borrow some decent hifi speakers from a friend just to get by. I've used quite a few different set of monitors in several project studios over the years and I have to say that a good set of monitors will make a much bigger impact in the quality of your recordings than an avalon preamp or an expensive tube mic.

Yeah i was hoping you (and everybody else in my other threads) wouldnt say that. But your right. I'll go for the Bx8s and maybe if i can get the avalon second hand i might be able to afford something better like yorkviles
