Ok, I'm new to this whole computer recording thing, but I have an idea. With the "ST Audio DSP 3000" (http://staudio.com/products/dsp3000.html) could I say plug all 8 of my drum mics into it, and record each mic as its own track on adobe audition's multi track?

Yes, that hardware is capable of that but, Adobe Audition is not compatible with that hardware. Audition needs hardware that comes with MME drivers.

In a nutshell this means they don’t speak the same language.

Can anyone else expand on this?
