Question Soundcraft Compact 4

Does anyone have any links to reviews or any knowledge about this little mixer? It's starting to interest me for my DAW needs...I know it's new, but I can't seem to find any info on it besides what's on their site...Harmony central doesn't really even have anything. But I know Soundcraft preamps are supposedly great in their larger mixers like Ghost so I would like to assume these are good too, but who knows.

The current June issue of Recording Magazine just did a review on it. The June edition is not on their website yet, but should be soon or you could pick up a copy.

nice! thanks for the link.

can anyone tell me a reason not to buy one? I'm thinking E-MU 0404 and the Compact 4 for my system for rough tracking / writing.

currently I'm just going direct to my soundblaster (track I did with my singer last month)

I bought and tried the Compact 4 and compared it to my Yamaha MG 10/2. The Yamaha is nicer. The sound from the Yamaha is what I get when I connect my sound card (AP 2496) directly to my monitors. The Yamaha has a cleaner, crisper, louder signal (several dB louder). The Compact 4 added some color to the tones and made my mixes less appealing (more nasally sounding) than when I mixed the same songs with the Yamaha. The sound coming from the Compact 4 was also not as pristine as the Yamaha. The Compact 4 was returned.
