Given I do most of my tracking/mixing at night (with kids asleep), I'm looking for a decent pair of comfortable flat-response headphones. After much research on this board and the Net, I've concluded that the Audio-Techica model ATH-M40fs headphones seem best for the job (at a decent price of $69 at Musicians Friend).
Any specific user feedback on the ATH-M40fs headphones? Or, has anyone dumped them for the Sennheiser HD280s? |

Also, meant to emphasize COMFORTABLE. I want decent sound (for under $100), but something I can wear for 2-4 hours at a time without head/ear aches.
Thanks. |

The ATH-M40fs headphones are excellent at any price! They offer a relatively flat response (not hyped or scooped like a lot of phones in this price range), have excellent isolation, and they are pretty comfortable (You could wear them for hours without fatigue).
I know of other places that offer them for the same price as MF...*hint, hint* ![]() Jay |

I like the Sony MDR7506s. $100 most places.

I just bought 6 of these from 8thstreet. They are selling for $60 each there. That leaves me with 7 pairs of these so you can tell i love them. My first pair i paid like $90 for so i was extremely happy to get them for $60 each.
I personally wouldnt ever try and mix with them of course, but they definately do a good job with letting you hear everything while your in the tracking room. Plus they are quite isolated and very comfortable like mentioned above. danny |
