i noticed this looking through catalog...anyone have it? is it good?

Yup. It's does exactly what it's supposed to do just right. MPC pads for tappin,' velocity sensitivity is prima. New OS update on the drivers just released, too. I only sold mine due to a bit of redundancy (and my search for an MPC60). Dunno what more I could tell you that the akaipro site hasn't probably put you on to.

I have had one and would like to have another.
Its nice since I use a Workstation(had a triton classic have a motif).
I can tap the pads insted of tapping on keys when programing beats.
I cant decide if I should get another or just get the MPC and be done with it!?

But its worth having if you are working on a Workstation or a PC its cool in a PC with a sampler like battery. Just hit the key drop in a sound and your in!

thanks for the input....I'm taking a look at everything before i start plunking down the money and working more to get all the stuff to build a good small studio

you can build your own trigger pads for about a buck using flat
piezo triggers, then just solder quarter inch male jacks on the end.
then enclose the trigger in cut up bits of flexible glued on the back tile.
glue a nice felt finish over the top to look professional.
then find a used alesis dm series drum module that accepts 8 trigger inputs.
plug the pads into the module. this now converts to midi output.
when i had a big rig i would also use the trigger pads to replace say a bad kick drum sound by triggering a sample or some midi module.
the midi out of the alesis brain can then allow you to record midi tracks on the pc using your favorite seq software. if you dont have seq midi software

it comes with tons of drum styles for preprogrammed midi tracks that you can create new midi drum tracks from. the new version 9 just came out -
and i think now - but you check - it will create an audio track from a m,idi track to save you doing it manually. if your into using real wave sounds
also check out a freebie called hotstepper somewhere on the net.
you can create very interesting drum/synth/industrial tracks using real audio sounds. its very addictive for making sample tracks.
dance ejay comes with thousands of sounds you can manipulate/export to wave. including too many drum sounds to list.

That would be MORE EXPENSIVE and less atractive than just getting the MPD!

it depends how one wants to work. the pads i built were quite large.
some drummers like the pads to be arrayed like a drum kit so they feel more comfortable using drum sticks. some folks dont often feel comfortable with close pads and tapping. it depends on the individual.
it was just an idea anyway to try that ive found a lot of drummers in the past have liked.

building my own trigger pad seems like a project that doesnt interest me too much right now...i'm currently in the middle of building a computer and a 302cu engine....the project roster is filled. lol

fyi - it takes me 10 minutes to make a trigger pad.
