Help me find the right one...

I'm downsizing from my BOSS BR-1180CD to something else...

It's not big enough to record my band live anyway, so why the extra slack? I plan on selling it (has a carrying case, micro monitors with it, hope to get $700-$800), and using most of the money to buy a new PA system, and am looking for an alternative, cheaper recording unit. Any ideas? I want at least a four-track, and a good mic pre-amp would be nice, but not necessarily any guitar effects. I would like it to at least have a hard drive to hold a few hours of recording, but maybe there's a computer program I should look for instead of a stationary?

Help!

Just a thought - if you want to save some more $$$ - what about buying one of the older cassette based four tracks from eBay or similar. Or maybe a reel to reel - if you can find the right one.

Of course of you need to go digital, there is loads of options - although having used a lot of recording mediums IMHO I still think guitar sound better on a decent tape.
