I need some BASS

hey guys,

can anyone reccomend a program for great funky bass sounds? making pop/rock kinda stuff, so that kinda sound, but anythings good - i just wants somehting phat and chunky to drive my as-yet-bassless compositions. I have FL Studio 4, which I use for beats, but I can't find any suitable bass sounds.

any ideas?

I'm interested in how to get these too, how do rappers get their deep bass sounds?

Yo Nick:

You can try a silver spoon for BASS-- but for bass that is gutsy and vibrant, you need to experiment with backing off EQ highs and adjusting EQ lows -- depending on your rig, you really don't need Fx on bass -- it is a resiliant vibe. I'm speaking from using the many bass patches I have on my synth, Yam, DX-7 which is kind of archaic in today's world of synths -- I just haven't had the heart to buy a new synth and deposit my DX-7 in the cellar.

You can also run your bass line through a compressor and twiddle the dials and see what you can come up with, again depending on your gear.

But, a good mix requires lots of hard work and, maybe, many hours of experimenting.

So what software would be good to do this with? I plan on just having a midi keyboard controller and some soft synths, but don't really know what's good for creating some really nice sounding bass sounds.

(sorry for bumping an old thread, but I didn't want to create a new one!)

yeah that's what I want to know also - although I have since discovered some pretty good bass sounds on fruityloops - really loking for a good funk (not toooo cheesy) sounding bass soft synth - is there such a thing?
