Hi all - My first post !
Well I bet you can guess from the title.... I took my old PC to a gig & recorded a dj set - 5hrs long - in cooleditpro 1.2a At the end of the night - a few beers later, I unplugged all the kit - as usual BUT forgot about the pc & saving that recording !!! So...I have not even booted up with that drive in the hopes of recovering that unsaved file. I imaged the disk to another using Powerquest drive image 2002 - left the original intact ( still is untouched since "crash" ) and booted with new disk which should be an exact copy of the original. ( however I noticed driveimage reckoned there was about 40Megs on D - and there should have been around 3Gigs. Sure enough on restarting cooledit I get the "continue now ?" dialog box - say yes - but its empty. ( always found that never worked ) So - any chance of recovery ? I know the file is there - as it streams to disk in realtime creating a temp file of sorts - but how to see it & finalise it as a wav ???? Any ideas ? Big thanks in advance - abbyk |

Maybe
I don't know about audition, but cool edit would have saved the files in the temp directory you created upon install.
They might be named something funky.. 5 hours...? Hope you have a large drive, because you arent going to be fitting much else on there ![]() |

well - thanks for the replies guys.
I did all the hunting I could on the subject & it seems I would have needed a low level data recovery - and then still have to figure out how to convert the temp file to a wav etc. I say would have because I've given up on it. Yup - more trouble than it was worth & I needed to use that drive. Still I would find the answer helpful for future reference. As I said in my 1st post vman124 - file does not rebuild after I click continue. Thanks again abbyk |

If you have been recording and saving it would have defaulted to the last folder. The default name is "untitled". If it's not in the usual folder Start/Find/Files or Folders/"untitled" and see what you come up with. I had a problem earlier this year where my computer was crashing during sessions and CEP never failed to save almost all the work up to the crash.
