Thumbs up I got this new

So, a few weeks ago I saw this amp selling in the net, I decided to givi it a try and finally I kept it. It is a Bassman 10 in totally mint condition. Not a single scratch, or a single "surprise" comming out of it. The only I found was thah one of the sepakers did not work properly, so I decided to change all of them. Also, I wanted to change the whole set of tubes...

Any recomendation for tubes and speakers for this beauty??--- fell free to help me... thanks

ok sorry...

So, I'm just trying to get the natural sound of a fender tube amp. The fact is that the tubes this Bassman has are General Electric... mmm???...firs time I've seen this brand of tubes... and kinda been used a lot... I mean... this amp is from 1977 it is old, and I'm looking towards making some recovery on it... I wan to get closer to a Twin clean sound... of course it is not going to be the same... but closer.

I do not know what brand of speakers I should put on it... they are 4x10" and it woul be woth it to get some good sepakers... as well as the best tubes.... so...

if this helps a bit... I'll apreciate your recomendatios... even if I should get rid of it...jejeje--

you can order 'nos' speakers for it from fender i imagine. i picked up the fender catalog at my guitar store this weekend, and they have all that stuff in it for repairs / replacement.

well keep in mind that you will need to get the amp rebiased, and as well probably recapped. electrolytic caps only last about 15 years usually, and this amp is far beyond that.
personaly for clean i would recoment jj/tesla tubes, they have a higher headroom, so they tend to stay clean a little longer. but i would say that a good quality groove tubes set would work well, like the 6L6R or the 6L6S (if you want a little bit more bite to the sound), or some svetlana(sp?) 6l6's. the electro harmonix 6l6GC's are nice too. preamp wise i will flat out say go with the electro harmonix 12ax7, it is by far the closest thing i have found to my telefunken 12ax7 stash of tubes, they are close but dont get dirty quite the same(not a bad thing though).
for the life of me, i can not remember whether those bassmans are tube rectified, if they are, buy the best quality tube you can afford, it makes a big diffrence.

if your not confused yet, im amazed.......
i would just get on www.thetubestore.com and read the reviews, they can be quite informative. or if all else fails just buy a couple diffrent selections, and try em out.

PS if you dont like the sound of Sovtek tubes than dont buy the cheaper groove tubes, all they are is relabled sovteks. fender replacement tubes are the same thing. sometimes they even screen print their logo directly over sovteks.
