What are 'pre-delay' and 'early refections' exactly?

Pre-delay is the amount of time (usually in milliseconds) for the body of a reverb to hit. Early reflections are just that - Sound from the general area. The first hits off the first walls, floors, ceilings, etc.
Big giant room, snare hit, puh-CAH from the reverb. The "puh" is the early reflections. The "CAH" is the roomy sound after the pre-delay. |

thanks massive master...my mixes have been void of alot of reverb because i wasnt sure how to use all the setups on my Zoom RFX-2000 i know this thing sucks next to a lexicon but it was 250 bucks at the Music Loft here in town and i was weak minded at the time. since most of my mixes lately consist of rapping, reverb isnt a big focus....i know this should be posted in the mp3 section but i did use reverb on these 2 mixes...i used enough to notice something when not in wmv format...does it sound bad to you? http://www.hiconeentertainment.com/sslap.php

They seem to work - My ears are a bit shot (long day again) though...
Better a little dry than too wet. |
