I have a actual foam factory show room within five miles. I'm going there within the next few days. If nobody has any better info I can give a comparsion when I return.

MM,

All acoustic foam performs about the same, and you can verify this by comparing the vendors specs. Not that the specs are accurate, because they're often overstated by quite a lot. But at least they're overstated by the same amount so you can still compare them.

Got my pack of 48 tiles from foambymail direct for $84 last fall. Great stuff, I've got no complaints. Ships vacuum-packed in a surprisingly tiny box.

Arlene's Foamtastic glue (looks like thick white glue, dries clear) works great on the stuff and can be found at most craft/sewing stores for $4 a bottle. Works great.

Oh, here's a photo of mine.

The foam is attached to 20"x40" masonite panels that are held to the wall with 2 standard wall anchors, so removal would only take a minute per panel with minimal patching - a hint for renters.

After I found that double-sticky carpet tape would only hold the foam for a few days, I used Arlene's Foamtastic glue (just a few sqiggle lines over each foam square area is neccesary; you don't have to cover the entire panel with glue.) No square has moved since I used the Arlenes.

I realize it's an old forum, but I thought I'd let some fellow budget-minded people know about this. I just ordered 48 square feet of their wedge foam for a mere 20 bucks (including shipping). Although I'm sure that this will not be the "be all end all" solution of cheap acoustical treatment, I figure any little bit will help and maybe some others might be interested as well. Depending on how it goes, I might order some of their corner bass traps. I'll let you know how the stuff turns out.

Yup, foambymail is offering some great deals through ebay lately... look for those with SPECIAL tag.

I just order another pack of 4"foams... hope to make some gobos out of them.

Here's a recent studio shot with the foams...
