Midi sync Tascam 788 to Sound Forge

Can't seem to do it. I'm using midi ins and outs through an Audigy 2 sound card but can't get any response. I think I have the assignments correct but I can't control the other's transport funtions going either way.

My goal is to run single tracks off the 788 via S/PDIF to Sound Forge and save them as .wav files.

Any ideas?
