Unhappy ProTools Free/Mac crisis

I just upgraded to a PowerMac G4 from a G3. I moved all of my old ProTools LE and ProTools Free sessions from the G3 internal hard drive to an external USB hard drive. Now, I'm using the G4 running the same ProTools Free software, but I'm unable to open my old ProTools LE or ProTools Free sessions that I created using the G3. When I go to open one of these sessions in ProTools Free, I see the progress bars indicating that the audio files are being opened. But ProTools Free doesn't open up an edit or mix window with the audio files in them. The audio files don't appear at all. And this is when booting the G4 in Classic mode, which I understand is a requirement to run ProTools Free on a G4.

I also tried creating a new session, and then importing the previously created audio files. This resulted in error messages stating that the "files are too fragmented."

Some other oddities: In the session folders I now see a “RESOURCE.FRK” file that I never saw before. I’m also seeing a “FINDER.DAT” file in each session folder. Also, the ProTools session file no longer appears with the tape reel icon.

I'm hoping there's a way I can salvage these session files!! Would GREATLY appreciate any help!

Actions required to reproduce the problem:
1. Launch G4 in Classic mode
2. Launch ProTools Free
3. Open previously created session - or - create new session and import previously created audio files from that session

Thanks!

PT free runs in OS 9 only, not under OS X. It does not run in Classic mode either. You'll have to boot your G4 from OS 9.x.x.
