Tascam 4-track recoders

hello,

I have an older Tascam Porta03 four track recorder. I am not sure if it is supposed to be this way, but I can only hear what I am playing on the next track if I am recording. If I just press play in order to practice along I can not hear anything. However, the moment I press record I can hear it. This makes it impossible to actually practice along before recording.

Was it made this way or is the one I purchased broken? I use a computer setup mainly but I just wanted this to goof around on.

Thanks,
ryan

hmmmmm......
you should most definitely be hearing something when you hit play. it is probably a matter of flipping the right switch to get out of record mode into playback mode.

some one on the TASCAM forum should be able to help you with that particular model.
