Cheap MIDI switchbox
What is the easiest way to switch different MIDI devices? I saw a foot controller for $40 at musiciansfriend. Will that do what I want, or can I find it smaller and cheaper? Here's what I plan.
My AP2496 only has one MIDI I/O. Currently, my Yamaha DTXpress, my GNX3 footpedal, and now my keyboard all have MIDI capabilities. I am sick of switching cords. I don't plan on using 2 of the devices at the same time. BUT, I could see, in the future, where I may be running a melody off the keyboard while having the drums off the Yamaha drum module. Is this even possible? So, I either need just a straight one-at-a time switch, or a switch that allows a couple of devices at a time. Does this make any sense? It doesn't to me. LOL! None of my devices have a "MIDI THROUGH" in order to daisy-chain.Thanks for any help. |

As long as all of your devices are running on diferent midi channels, something like this http://www.midiman.net/index.php?do=...2a444c0d2fcb97 will work, all it does is send your midi out four ways. One in, four outs, no switches, no buttons.
I've used one from my drum machine to two samplers that don't have outs for a year or two with no problems. Jesse |
