Help!! TOO MUCH ANALOG

I've just purchased a Soundcraft 24:8 Spirit mixer. Before, I'd been recording with a Motu 828 & a G4. I understand the basic layout of the board, but this is my first true mixer. I don't know everything about mixing consoles, but since I've been into general recording, it has helped with my familarity with the basics multitrack recording. Basically what I'm saying is does anyone own this board? or someone who knows someone who does? I also, just received yesterday the KorgD1600 which I will be recording with. If anyone is experienced with this configuration of equipment, I'd appreciate the advice on connections & setup.

Just curious, why did you get an all-in-one unit like the Korg and an external mixer? I would have went with something like the HD24. You would of had 24 tracks to go with that 24 channel mixer.

Did you get a manual? That would be the best place to start. You can check out the Mackie manuals at www.mackie.com They have some great setup diagrams. All mixers perform pretty much the same.

I'm using the channels inputs of the mixer for my mpc 60 & sp1200. I assign each track to a bus and the busses are going into th korg d1600. I burn on a tascam cdrw700.

Thanks for the manual tip also. I need to see what other options I have. I'll gladly use the advice.

Like you said, run your 8 Bus sends into the 8 inputs on your recorder. Assign channels to different busses (guitar to bus 1, kick drum to bus 2, snare to bus 3, etc) and go from there.

Out of curiosity, why aren't you running the Soundcraft into the 828?

I sold my 828. It was nice, but I was tired of all the things that could go wrong along the recording chain. 828 problems, OS problems, cord problems. I wanted to make process more basic. I didn't really like the 828 that much. It worked well for me, but there was too much stuff to turn on. The less switches the better. The closest I would ever get to one again is a digi 002.
