unbalanced cooledit waveform

hi, i've just bought the Tube MP by ART and own a Unidirectional Low-End microphone by AudioTechnica.

I am trying to record on cooledit pro and faced with a problem. It seems that when I record the waveform is more dominant at the bottom, it doesn't want to stay centered. I am recording in mono. is anyone else faced with this problem. any help will be appreciated. thank you.

You mean the view?

If you go over to the RH side od the wavefor view, you can left-click and drag it back into center or you can scroll it larger or smaller.

Is that what you mean?

no.. that isnt what i mean at all... u know how when u record there's a waveform, and there is a horizontal line on the middle of the box. well when i record the waveform tends to "swerve" more towards the bottom, so basically it's thicker from the line to the bottom than from the line to the top.

Try Device Properties/Wave In/check "Adjust To Zero DC When Recording".

Talking

Are you sure you're not overdriving the program? I set up a feedback loop when I was first learning to use my current gear and the results looked pretty ugly.

revamp - how big is the deviation? It happens with me sometimes too, and trying that 'adjust for DC' thing didn't help either. Does it affect the actual sound of the track? With my stuff, it didn't seem to.

ok i've experimented around and discovered a few things:

1) it doesn't do it if i plug the guitars and not the microphone

2) if i use the Low to High Impedance transformer the problem is reduced to about 80%

i think that the problem may be with the microphone. it has been dropped and has a big dent on it. what do you think? it's a vocal microphone
