Back up vocals
Hey,
I am not sure if someone can help but here goes, what type of effect should I generally apply to back up vocals for rap? so a track like "crazy in love" what methods were taken to make Jay-Z's back up vocals different from his main vocals? Should they be panned 30% or echoed maybe something else? |

Always use a differentiating reverb, and pan somewhat.
I generally pan to the left, at about 22% or more... plus I layer effects to make it stand out, but not intrude on the main vocal track.

I do like above and eq a bit to get it soundin a little distant. Usually droppin some volume in a higher freq between 8000-10000.

what you can always do is apply a different more dry effect like lowering the frequency and pan it a little to the left or random pan it.
