I would like to buy or build a rack unit. Could someone point me in the right direction (on the web). I don't want to spend a fortune on cabinets - the money I could spend on gear.

Hey G.J.
Simple! Depending on the height you want
all you need is 2 boards approx. 45-60" in length and approx 15-19" in width (for the sides). 2 boards @ 19 1/2" in width (for top and bottom)2 metal L-shaped brackets (from hardware store)at approx 43-58" length (again
depending how tall you want your cabinet).
connect 1 L-bracket to 1 side of the board and the other to the other side of the board.
drill holes into L-bracket for the amount of
gear you planning to hook up taking careful consideration to measure the distance from each board being 19".Attach the top and bottom boards to the sides of the racks and presto...instant rack! This is just a quick example and if you look at any basic rack you will see how simple they are made.
19 1/2" top

I've got a page on it at my site gear_junky - try this
http://www.lis.net.au/~johnsay/Acous...Acoustics4.htm

and select fittings - it saves me going through it all here
cheers JS
