Question

I have recently gotten an Alesis 3630 compressor and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for settings while recording acoustic guitar. Thanks!

Questor - I've recently been using my compressor when tracking acoustic as well. I tried various settings, some suggested in the handbook, some I got from the web, and in the end I plumped for a general approach I got from this page. I use it as a peak limiter now rather than a compressor: the ratio's 10:1, and the attack's at 1 ms. The threshold's pretty high (+10), because I just want to lop off the strongest peaks. So the sound's as uncompressed as it can be, plus I don't clip. That's what I want. Try it and see if it works for you.
