Is it safe?

Does N-track provide secure service when you purchase with a credit card?

I'm a bit worried that something might turn out bad being that I live in the states and n-track is based out of italy.

I've paid twice with a card - once for the 16 bit then the 24 upgrade, and had no problems. The service when I lost my reg code was extremely helpful.

That's good to hear. Do they send you a CD or anything incase N-Track gets removed from your PC? Or is it basically download-dependant?

There's no need (although I think they can send a CD - check the site). Once you've downloaded the installation file, you can just burn it to a data CD and keep it safe in case you ever need it again, i.e. after your PC crashes. If you also download the manual and print it out it's just the same as a package bought in a shop. (You WILL need to read the manual )

I can personally vouch for the writer of n-Track. Flavio is a class act who produces a quality product for little money. I've been an n-Track customer for 5 years and have purchased all versions, upgrades, and plugins via the web. Never a hassle.

I wouldn't worry at all. Been a long time user myself and I have never had a problem. Flavio has been around a long time is not not a fly by night scamster.

nTrack was my first program. I downloaded the trial version and it was okay for a demo. Then, I ordered the CD. I have to say that I was very dissapointed!

When I got the CD in the mail, it came in a brown envelope. Inside the envelope was a clear plastic CD sleeve and inside it was a burnt CD with a printed CD Stomper label! Along with the CD was a sheet of paper with the activation code. I activated it and it was basically the same as the demo version! I was thinking to myself 'I payed $65 for THIS?!

It was really upsetting.

I took my money elswhere and upgraded to Cool Edit Pro 2.0. It works great.

...And ALL the effects are free!

Be sure and post some of your music made with CE. I'm sure we're all real curious how the extra investment helped you.

Huh? Isn't CoolEdit a wav editor? N track is a multitrack recorder. They are not even remotely the same kind of product. It's like saying you got a Chevy truck to dig a hole for a swimming pool, you were disappointed in how it performed, and got a backhoe instead. They are totally different animals. Now that Adobe has bought out CoolEdit, it is a more similar package. You wanted a duck and bought a chicken I am afraid.

Seriously, does CE2000 have multitrack capabilities? I thought it was soley a wav editor. What were you able to do multitrack wise in CE that you couldn't in N? Really, I am not trying to be a smart ass. I listened to your clip , but that doesn;t tell me if you used CE for multi track, just mastering, etc.

I know CEP 2.0 has multi-track. I'm not sure about CEP2000. But, yeah. To answer your question... Yes. CEP has multi-track and its a .wav editor. Its a great program!

Thumbs down

Hmmmmm, Flavio is a 1-man operation, so that would explain the burnt CDs. do you think he can afford to get 1000 CDs pressed? Especially since most folks just download the program off of the Net (which you already did, so I'm not sure why you needed the CD) When I used the Demo back in 2000 before I purchased it, the demo was DEFINETLY crippled. You couldn't mix down, and you could only put fx on track 1. Did Flavio change the demo crippling? I'm not sure why you think the activated version was the same as the demo? Did you think your tracks would suddenly sound radio-ready after activating it?
Sorry for venting, but Flavio works very hard for this great (and inexpensive) program, I think your expectactions were off.
I do hope CE works for you (I'm sure it will because I've heard it's a great program too), but I'm just confused by your complaint.
Oh well, let's all get back to making music (as soon as the boss lets me go home!)

I'm in the states and sent Flavio a personal check. He emailed me the unlock codes. He has a print-out order form on his site for this kind of transaction.

Glad it worked for you, Bunny. If you're brand new to N, you might wanna check out AudioMinds to get a head start on digital recording.

i gotta give N-track credit, it was the first recording software i ever used, it worked well. To be honest, now i would probably spend the same amount of money and get a cakewalk product like home studio. That is completely a personal thing, i just like the interface better. N-track is solid though. As for cool edit, yup both a multitracker and a waveform editor so i guess you would be getting some sort of chicken-duck mutant. CE is solid as well except for it's shittiness with MIDI
