midi connection from keyboard to computer

using a yamaha motif es6 and connecting through a midisport 2x2 into computer...didn't have software for the midisport so i downloaded from m-audio's website...i show it was saved as icon is now in computer control panel...when i connect the usb cable to computer...nothing happens and it's saying not connected...

i guess the no brainers are possible bad midi cables, possible bad midisport...any other ideas why i could be having this problem?

Could be a bad USB port too...

But those MidiSport drivers are notorious pains in the butt to install properly, you have to follow their instructions explicitly. If the drivers are already there and you install new ones you have to be ultra-careful about following their procedure to unisnatll the old ones first.
