Question sonar 3.1 producer + event ez-8 (?)

please bear w/ the initial adobe audition questions, you'll have to read thru to the end to get to sonar, but the initial audition question(s) explain the situation.

i got this 'more specific than the next to useless ez-8 manual' advice from an event tech:

Quote:
Do you have the EZ8 selected in the Sounds and Audio Windows control panel? This can sometimes "hog" the driver and cause problems. Or you could check the box in Sonar [audio options>advanced>share drivers with other programs (or something along those lines)]. The driver error comes up for many reasons, though, such as sample rate settings being the same with the project, or bit depth errors. Also check to make sure that you have the "Stream > 16 bit data as:" under Driver Profiles, set to "32 bit PCM, Left justified."
okay... i made sure the ez-8 wasn't selected in sounds and audio properties (i had it as the default device in sound recording).

'share driver' was not selected, so i tried selecting it. then - and since - all i have is some adobe driver for my hercules fortissimo 7.1 soundcard.

i have the sample rate, in ez-8 properties and sonar, at 44.1.

the 'stream 16 bit' is set to '32 bit left.'

i just don't get it. the fact that there's no useful documentation on this ez-8 card pisses me off considerably. i'm not computer dumb by any stratch, but i AM new to all this digital audio stuff. even so, i'm a very quick study - IF I HAVE REFERENCE TO DRAW FROM!

i believe i'll mention something, to that effect, to the event tech.

can't anyone, here, help out? experienced, educated guesses beat what i've got, at the moment.
