I am thinking of upgrading from the BR-8 to a BR-1600. the 8 really treated me welkl on the most part, but we need to have more tracks and more recorded simultaneously.
THe BR-8 mic pres were just DREADFUL. we never used them, but intead, ran into a mixer and lined in through the RCAs. So if we go for a BR1600, we'll need to be able to use the built in PREs. Are they vastly improved? this is to record a loud rock band. drums marshalll amps, etc. I have read some of other comments on this model. theres not much as its a new machine obviously. Is there anything else in this price range that would be a better alternative? Thanks in advance for any info you may have. FWIW, we went and looked at this model at Sam Ash as well as a few other brands. Roland, Korg, Tascam. |

I've recorded live drums with excellent results. None of the mics used cost more than $200 each.
