Adds tracks automatically!?
Hey guys.
I'm a fairly new user with n-track, so I'm still learning the ropes. Here's one I can't figure out: I'm recording from my Delta 44 into n-track. I want to record from only ONE input, so I select that input from the Record menu for that track. But when I press record, it records ALL 4 tracks that are plugged in! Even if they are blank, 3 other blank tracks show up! I only added ONE track to the project, but the others just show up after I stop recording. How do I stop this? Thanks, Justin |

Are you letting n-Track automatically record to a new track, or are you specifically telling it to record to one single track? Sometimes if you don't specify, n-Track will just create one or more new tracks.

I specified a certain track to record from "Delta 44 Inputs 1/2 L", or something like that. But it'll add 3 more tracks for the other 3 tracks coming from the Delta.
All I want is the one that I specified, not the three that I didn't! |

Might want to try shutting off your other channels from the m-audio control panel.

I've heard other users mention this. Are you using the ASIO drivers, by chance? Seems to me, the folks that mentioned it are ASIO users.
Also, if you record using the LIVE function, i've heard that N will add a track for every input you have enabled (within the Settings icon on the Recording LED. Look for the little hammer). Maybe someone on the N forum will know more. I use WDM and don't have this issue. Also, since you're new to N. You might find a trip to AudioMinds helpful. ![]() tj

I have N-Track and a Delta 44. I'm at work now, but if you still can't figure it out, PM me and I'll check it out tonight and get back to you.
Good luck! |

Click on the red record dot at the bottom of the record VU meters and select "Don't record from this channel" for each of the channels you don't want. Then either select "Record to new track" or specifiy which track you want the one channel to record to.
You should also be able to click on the hammer icon and select which I/O channels you want to record from. Most likely it will only let you select pairs, but at least you can deselect the pair you don't want and only have to deal with two inputs. Blessings, Terry |
