Sonic Solutions A/D converter

Anybody ever heard of a standalone A/D converter from Sonic Solutions? I can't find any information anywhere...it looks like Sonic Solutions walked away from that line of business.

I'm looking for a decent A/D converter than can send optical SPDIF so that I can bypass the pres in my AW16G, which is only 16/44. There isn't much out there for under $500 that will do Toslink SPDIF, but maybe at that price point I'm better off just turning down the gain on the Yamaha's in-line pres all the way...

Any thoughts?

One of the problems with using a SIAB (Studio-In-A-Box) is expandability. If you want “better” or just different sounding preamps, some makers force you to jump through hoops to get there. You might try a combination preamp/converter--something like the Dbx 386 or one of the Focusrite Platinum series. Or you might be able to use the Kurzweil Rumor. It’s a reverb unit but everyone seems to rave about the converters. All of these options offer SPDIF digital out although I’m not sure about TOSLINK. There are also some low end converters like the ART DIO or the M-Audio Flying Cow but I believe they are all RCA digital out. The other option would be to save for something like the Lucid 9624 ($800). It has optical out and a good reputation for A/D conversion.

I keep forgetting about the Flying Cow... That's actually a pretty bad-ass little box - AES/EBU and Coaxial S/PDIF. Combine that with the Co2, and you've got yourself AES/EBU, TOSLink & Coaxial up to 48K probably for around $400 on the street.

Does the CO2 have any effect on sound? That sounds like a great option. If the CO2 doesn't have any impact on the sound, I'd love to get that and a TC Electronic M300.

Haven't heard a bad thing through them. It's strictly a format coverter.

If you can swing a deal, the Co3 adds AES/EBU and simultaneous outs in all formats... Considerably more expensive, though...
