Question Starting up...PLEASE HELP!

Hey,

Just before I start I should tell you I have NO previous experience, and I'm finding all of this a bit daunting...but I don't wanna let anything stand in my way.

Basically, I wanna get started recording some beats...on a hip-hop, rap kinda vibe. I want to be able to sample as well. I also want to be able to record vocals. And I want all the basic sounds like drums, piano, guitar etc. Erm, I realise I may well be sounding pretty stupid right now...but I gotta ask to find out!

Also, maybe some kind of key-board to create, expirement with and record melodies etc, and sumthing that I can use to make sound effects (maybe there is something like an effects key-board type thingy- excuse my "techincal jargon" lol).

Also, I imagine I will need something to mould/mix this all into a song at the end.

My budget is £1000 pounds and down. I don't even know if this is possible with that budget.

Oh, and I wanna do it all at home, preferably without a computer. Maybe something stand-alone.

Please feel free to tell me if I am being foolish here lol, and please do your best to help me.

Thanks

Standalone ....

Without a computer your funds will disapear alot quicker...Okay
How about a Fostex MR-8 (can be found on musicianfriend for 215$) Then your gonna need a drum machine (ASR-X about 300bones) An get some type of keyboard ..with preset sounds..200-400 which every way you go..NOw if u decide to go the computer route...u can slice most of these prices in half for example. Fruity Loops(150$) software controller (keyboard) 100-200$) an then buy a bunch of samples to get you started.(about 10-20$ a disk) I hope this helps..if u could tell me how much 1000 of your money transfers to US funds i may be of more help...

Peace,

Kevlar
